Sophie is a Designer from Brisbane, Australia, Living and working in London, she has worked in the lighting industry since graduating from Queensland University of Technology in 2014 with a degree in Industrial Design.

Currently working at AECOM as a Senior Lighting Designer. AECOM is an infrastructure consulting firm, delivering professional services throughout the project lifecycle – from planning, design and engineering to program and construction management. Prior to AECOM, Sophie worked at Nulty as a lighting designer for five years.

Sophie is active in the lighting industry, involved in various webinars, panel discussions and magazine publications. This has included involvement in activities for GreenLight Alliance, Nulty Lighting, Women in Lighting, Darc, ILP and Recolight.

On graduating, Sophie worked for Lumen8 Architectural Lighting in Brisbane and set up a design collective called Dark Matter Studio with three other designers. This was a means to pursue their creative outlets of set design, installation design, architecture, branding, graphic design, interior design, lighting design and industrial design. She also tutored on the Industrial Design course at her former university.

With a passion for sustainability, she is a founding member of the GreenLight Alliance; an association of volunteers working together to help everyone in the lighting sector understand their role in adopting and promoting the circular economy.
