Sabine De Schutter
Sabine De Schutter is an independent lighting designer and educator, and founder of Studio
De Schutter. Belgian-born and based in Berlin and Antwerp, she works internationally at the
intersection of atmosphere, functionality, and sustainability, with a strong focus on circular
design strategies in the built environment.
Her portfolio spans hospitality, workplace, and cultural projects, where she develops lighting
concepts that are both materially conscious and experientially rich. Her approach challenges
conventional specification practices by integrating reuse, adaptability, and lifecycle thinking
into the design process.
Sabine is Women in Lighting Ambassador for Germany and an active voice in the discourse on
sustainable lighting design. Her TEDx talk on circularity in the building industry contributes to
the broader conversation on how design can actively shape more responsible futures
