I’m the Managing Director of AO Recycling, created as a result of online electricals retailer AO World Plc. and The Recycling Group joining forces in 2015.

I was instrumental in designing and creating AO Recycling’s Shropshire-based state-of-the-art fridge, LDA and packaging recycling facility which annually recycles up to two million fridges and large appliances collected from AO’s customers and third parties.

I also led the business through the design and build of AO’s plastic recycling facility which opened in 2020. This facility uses a combination of different innovative technologies and systems that produce the highest quality single polymer plastics which are now being used in new appliances.

In addition, AO Recycling runs one of the largest WEEE refurbishment and repair facilities in Europe, repairing and selling in the region of 50,000 large appliances every year.

I am a specialist in all aspects of end-to-end recycling and materials recovery, plastic separation systems as well as large scale project management, software development and systems analysis and have been the Managing Director of a recycling company for almost twenty years.

Before creating AO Recycling, I was founder and Managing Director of The Recycling Group, which specialised in the transportation, recycling and reuse of waste electrical appliances. I grew and then subsequently took the business through the acquisition by AO world Plc.

Prior to working in the recycling world, I was a senior project manager in IT. My work was focussed on developing and delivering software for large implementations within the areas of logistics, freight forwarding and shipping lines. This involved projects for TNT, DHL, Wincanton, Tibbet and Britten, Nokia and Hitachi.

Throughout my career in the recycling industry, I have driven the fundamental concept that accurate, live data drives good decisions.

I graduated from Liverpool University with a degree in mathematics and physics.
