Chartered Architect / Principal, Hamish Angus McAndrew

I am a Chartered UK Architect with 10 years of professional experience undertaking a lead role within a number of projects, ranging in scale, across a broad range of sectors - including community initiatives, residential developments, commercial/leisure buildings, regeneration & master plan strategies, and healthcare facilities for the National Health Service. Projects I have worked on range in value from just a few thousand pounds to developments of over £20 million.

Beyond this project experience, I have acted as both an Employee Representative and Trustee Director within the Employee Ownership Trust Board of CSY Architects - a medium sized practice with offices across Scotland.

Proficient at working both independently and as part of a team through all stages of the design process (from conception to completion), I believe that I have a personable and professional approach with clients, colleagues, contractors, consultants, and local authorities.

In July 2024, l left my previous practice to progress the refurbishment of a listed fishing village cottage within a conservation area whilst simultaneously preparing for treks to both Everest Base Camp in Nepal and Kilimanjaro in Tanzania. This soon led me to becoming a sole practitioner after being approached by a number of prospective clients. Following this move, I was awarded the Royal Scottish Academy's 2025 Medal for Architecture alongside the 2025 RSAxWasps Award.

Outwith employment, my architectural delineations have received success internationally and have been exhibited on both sides of the Atlantic. Notably, my work has been featured on the cover of The RIBA Journal, I have exhibited multiple times at the Scottish National Gallery, I was commended in the RIBAJ's Eye Line drawing competition (2025) and I have been both a Winner (2021) and Finalist (2018) at the American Institute of Architect's Ken Roberts Memorial Delineation Competition - the worlds longest running architectural drawing contest.

I consider myself conscientious and quick-learning. I always look forward to new challenges and am enthused by the opportunities a challenge can provide to grow and strengthen both skills and character.
