Colin Ball
Lighting Director at BDP (Building Design Partnership Ltd) in London and Sacristan of St Paul’s Bow Common
Colin has worked on some of the most acclaimed lighting projects in recent years, including St Paul’s Cathedral and the Palace of Westminster in London and the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane. What’s less well known is his development of innovative techniques for lighting within World Heritage venues plus ‘carbon exemplary projects’ for cutting edge science institutes.
Colin was educated in architecture before becoming a lighting designer. He had 10 years experience at Speirs Major and six years at Isometrix Lighting + Design prior to joining BDP in 2011.
Colin has developed a series of lectures that look at how Light in Faith is represented from historical, religious and psychological perspectives in architecture and contemporary art, which he has delivered across the UK, Europe, North and South America.
Colin is a founding member of the BDP Equality, Diversity & Inclusion network ‘Belonging’ with which he has promoted Social Value within each professional body of Lighting, Engineering and Architecture.
